Joint Media Release: SHUNIAH, ON – May 16, 2017: On Saturday, May 13, 2017, members of Shuniah Fire & Emergency Services (SFES) worked with local Canadian Army Reservists from 3 Squadron, 38 Signal Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to conduct the annual Load Bearing March as part of their Individual Battle Task Standard.
Fire Chief Blair Arthur, Deputy Fire Chief Joe Drcar, along with several firefighters met up with soldiers prior to, and upon completion of their 13 kilometre march. The great work cohesion between the two organizations reflects positively in keeping the citizens of Canada safe, especially on the heels of the flooding in Southern Ontario and Quebec where members of the CAF are supporting local public safety organizations.
